CHVRCHES Release New Single “Overthinker” Ahead of 2027 Album

Scottish electronic-pop trio CHVRCHES have returned with a new single titled "Overthinker", offering fans another preview of their forthcoming fifth studio album, All the King's Men.

The release adds fresh momentum to the band's comeback campaign and gives listeners a clearer idea of the musical and emotional direction of their next project.

A more personal side of CHVRCHES

Unlike the band's earlier single "Roses", which addressed wider social and political issues, "Overthinker" takes a more personal approach. The song explores complicated family relationships, emotional tension and the experience of caring deeply about someone who can also cause distress.

Lead vocalist Lauren Mayberry delivers the track's emotional message over the group's recognisable electronic production, combining atmospheric synth textures with a melodic pop arrangement.

The accompanying lyric video adds a visual dimension to the song's themes, reinforcing the contrast between comfort and emotional instability.

First album in nearly six years

"Overthinker" is the second single from All the King's Men, following the earlier release of "Roses". The forthcoming album is scheduled for January 22, 2027, through Futures Music Group.

The project will mark the trio's first full-length studio album since 2021's Screen Violence. That gap has made the new material particularly significant for longtime listeners who have been waiting for another full CHVRCHES record.

Live performances and upcoming tour

The group also performed "Overthinker" during an intimate charity concert at Assumption Studios in Glasgow on October 27. The performance featured a surprise appearance from Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil.

CHVRCHES have also announced upcoming touring plans connected to the new album, with performances scheduled across North America, the United Kingdom and Ireland in 2027.

With a new single now available and a full album approaching, CHVRCHES are steadily building anticipation for their next musical chapter. Fans will be watching closely to see how All the King's Men develops the sound that made the band internationally recognised.
