POLK COUNTY, Minn. — Two 22-year-old men from Warren died Saturday in a single-vehicle crash in rural Polk County, leaving their families, friends and community grieving, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded around 11:50 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, to County Road 20, about half a mile north of 150th Street NW. A passerby had found the vehicle overturned and resting on its roof in a water-filled drainage ditch. Deputies and the Warren Fire Department found two men inside, identified as Johnny Alexander Ortiz and Devin Michael Casares, both 22 and both of Warren. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Minnesota State Patrol, Warren Fire and Rescue and North Valley Health Center Ambulance assisted. The sheriff's office hasn't said what caused the vehicle to leave the road, and said it's unlikely any further information will be released at this time.
Two young men from the same community are gone, leaving loved ones to face a loss no police report can measure. May those who loved Johnny and Devin find strength and comfort in the days ahead, and may their memories be honored with love.
